Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zydus Lifesciences is developing an inactivated, adsorbed vaccine for the prevention of chikungunya virus infection. The vaccine is produced using cell culture technology and utilizes the chikungunya parent virus seed strain DEN-AFP-SV130030. It is designed to elicit a protective immune response against the chikungunya virus by presenting inactivated viral particles to the immune system. As of late 2025, the candidate was in the transition from preclinical to Phase I clinical development, with the Indian Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) requesting protocol revisions before the initiation of first-in-human studies.
