Overview

This is a combination approach using an inactivated COVID-19 vaccine followed by an Ad5-nCoV booster. Ad5-nCoV (also known as Convidecia) is a recombinant adenovirus type-5 vector-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by CanSino Biologics. The combination approach has been studied for its efficacy in providing enhanced immune response compared to using either vaccine alone. Ad5-nCoV as a single dose induces both humoral and cellular immune responses against SARS-CoV-2, with clinical trials showing 58% efficacy against symptomatic disease and 92% efficacy against severe COVID-19.
