Overview

Inactivated *Enterococcus faecalis* CECT7121 is a paraprobiotic (non-viable microbial cell) preparation derived from the probiotic strain *E. faecalis* CECT7121. It is primarily investigated for its immunomodulatory properties and its potential as an adjunct therapy to enhance the efficacy of antimicrobial agents. Preclinical research in murine models of *Salmonella Enteritidis* sepsis has demonstrated that the concomitant administration of this inactivated bacterium with fluoroquinolones, such as ciprofloxacin and enrofloxacin, significantly improves survival rates. The therapeutic effect is attributed to the stimulation of the host's innate immune response, which works synergistically with antibiotics to clear systemic infections and mitigate the development of antimicrobial resistance.
