Inactivated Enterovirus 71 Vaccine (IMBCAMS)

Inactivated Enterovirus 71 Vaccine (IMBCAMS) is a monovalent, inactivated whole-virus vaccine developed by the Institute of Medical Biology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS) for the prevention of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) caused by Enterovirus 71 (EV71). Produced in Vero cells and adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide, it was one of the first EV71 vaccines to receive regulatory approval in China. In the context of clinical development for other HFMD vaccines, such as Sinovac Biotech's Inlive, this vaccine has been utilized as an active control (comparator) in Phase 3 and observational follow-up studies to evaluate comparative immunogenicity, safety, and long-term immunity persistence in pediatric populations aged 6 to 71 months.
