Overview

**Grippol (inactivated influenza vaccine + azoximer bromide)** is a low-dose adjuvanted subunit influenza vaccine containing 5 μg hemagglutinin (HA) per strain from influenza A (H1N1, H3N2) and B viruses, combined with 500 μg azoximer bromide (Polyoxidonium), a synthetic heterochain polyamine immunomodulator developed by NPO Petrovax Pharm in Russia. Azoximer bromide enhances innate immune responses via effects on toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 (MDA5) gene expression, promoting phagocytosis, reducing free radicals, and enabling antigen-sparing by achieving immunogenicity comparable to standard 15 μg HA non-adjuvanted vaccines despite lower antigen content. Primarily indicated for influenza prophylaxis in children from 6 months, adults, and elderly, it demonstrates favorable safety with lower local reactogenicity rates and similar systemic reactions to comparators across 30 clinical trials involving over 11,000 participants; protective antibodies develop in 8-12 days, lasting up to 12 months.[1][4]
