Overview

Inactivated Lactobacillus reuteri LR-G100 is a postbiotic (paraprobiotic) ingredient developed by Bio-Growing, derived from a specific strain of Limosilactobacillus reuteri. The product consists of heat-killed bacterial cells that retain functional surface structures. Its primary mechanism of action in oral health involves the specific co-aggregation with Streptococcus mutans, the main causative agent of dental caries. By binding to S. mutans, LR-G100 prevents the pathogen from adhering to tooth surfaces and forming biofilms, allowing it to be rinsed away. Additionally, LR-G100 has demonstrated antagonistic activity against Helicobacter pylori, potentially through competitive exclusion and interference with adhesion in the gastric mucosa. As an inactivated strain, it offers formulation advantages over live probiotics, including stability in high-moisture environments like toothpaste and mouthwash.
