Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) is a trivalent vaccine containing inactivated (killed) poliovirus strains of serotypes 1, 2, and 3. It is designed to induce systemic humoral immunity by stimulating the production of serum IgG antibodies that neutralize the virus, thereby preventing its spread to the central nervous system and protecting against paralytic poliomyelitis.
