Overview

This is an adjuvanted, inactivated whole-virus vaccine candidate developed against SARS-CoV-2 by a research team led by Professor Osman Erganis at Selcuk University in Turkey. The vaccine utilizes a traditional inactivated virus platform, where the SARS-CoV-2 virus is grown in culture and then chemically inactivated to lose its pathogenicity while retaining its immunogenic properties. It is formulated with an adjuvant to enhance the immune response. In clinical trials, it has been administered via subcutaneous injection, which distinguishes it from many other COVID-19 vaccines that are typically administered intramuscularly. The primary goal of the vaccine is to induce protective immunity against COVID-19 in healthy adults by presenting the entire killed virus to the immune system, thereby triggering a broad response against multiple viral proteins.
