**Inactivated split-virion influenza A(H1N1) vaccine** is a monovalent vaccine developed for the 2009 H1N1 pandemic influenza strain, primarily A/California/07/2009-like virus. It consists of virus grown in embryonated hens' eggs, inactivated (e.g., with formaldehyde or beta-propiolactone), and disrupted using detergents like sodium taurodeoxycholate or sodium deoxycholate to split the virion, preserving key antigens such as hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) while discarding nucleic acids and internal proteins to enhance safety and reduce reactogenicity. The vaccine induces humoral immunity, primarily neutralizing antibodies against HA, providing protection against influenza disease caused by the targeted H1N1 strain; it contains approximately 15 mcg HA per dose, requires 1-2 doses depending on age, and follows the same manufacturing standards as seasonal influenza vaccines.[1][3][7][9][11]
