Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Inadone is a sustained-release microsphere formulation of leuprorelin acetate, a synthetic nonapeptide analog of naturally occurring gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). As a potent GnRH receptor agonist, leuprorelin initially stimulates the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. However, continuous administration leads to the downregulation and desensitization of GnRH receptors, resulting in a profound suppression of pituitary gonadotropins. This suppression leads to a significant reduction in serum testosterone levels in men (to castrate levels) and estradiol levels in women, making it effective for treating hormone-dependent conditions. Inadone is specifically developed as a long-acting injectable formulation to provide consistent therapeutic exposure over several months, primarily targeting prostate cancer and various endocrine disorders.
