This combination therapy involves the co-administration of incobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin) and prednisolone (Hydrocortancyl) for the treatment of chronic lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow. IncobotulinumtoxinA is a purified botulinum neurotoxin type A that acts by cleaving SNAP-25, thereby inhibiting the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction and inducing temporary muscle paralysis to reduce mechanical strain on the epicondylar tendon. Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that provides potent anti-inflammatory effects by activating the glucocorticoid receptor. The combination is designed to address both the mechanical tension and the inflammatory components of lateral epicondylitis. This specific therapeutic regimen is being evaluated in the Phase 3 EPITOX clinical trial sponsored by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris.
