indapamide + perindopril

Indapamide + perindopril is a fixed-dose combination medication containing two active ingredients: indapamide (a thiazide-like diuretic) and perindopril (an angiotensin-converting enzyme [ACE] inhibitor). It is primarily used for the treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure). Perindopril lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II—a potent vasoconstrictor—thereby reducing total peripheral resistance and aldosterone secretion. Indapamide acts mainly by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule of the kidney, leading to increased urine output and reduced blood volume; it also has direct effects on vascular smooth muscle. The combination provides synergistic antihypertensive effects with improved arterial compliance and reduced cardiovascular risk compared to monotherapy.
