Indium-111 D6-B483 is a radioimmunoconjugate consisting of a murine monoclonal antibody, D6-B483, labeled with the gamma-emitting radioisotope Indium-111. The D6-B483 antibody is an IgG1 that specifically recognizes a high-molecular-weight glycoprotein antigen (approximately 400 kDa) found on the surface of the majority of human breast adenocarcinoma cells. Developed by Centocor, this agent was investigated as a diagnostic tool for radioimmunoscintigraphy (RIS) to identify and localize primary and metastatic breast cancer. The mechanism involves the selective accumulation of the radiolabeled antibody at tumor sites, enabling detection via external scintigraphic imaging. Clinical studies in the late 1980s and early 1990s evaluated its efficacy in detecting occult metastases and monitoring disease progression in breast cancer patients.
