Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Indium-111 diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid folate is a radiopharmaceutical designed for diagnostic imaging. It comprises Indium-111, a radionuclide, chelated by diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), and conjugated to folate (folic acid). This conjugate specifically targets the folate receptor, which is frequently overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells, including ovarian and endometrial carcinomas. The Indium-111 component allows for detection via Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging, enabling the visualization of folate receptor-positive tumors for diagnostic purposes.
