Indium-111-labeled dendritic cells are dendritic cells (DCs) that have been radioactively labeled with indium-111 (111In) to track their migration in vivo. These cells are used in cancer immunotherapy, particularly in melanoma clinical trials, where they are loaded with tumor-associated antigens and injected into patients. The radioactive labeling allows researchers to monitor the cells' migration to lymph nodes using scintigraphy, which is crucial for understanding vaccine efficacy since DCs must reach lymph nodes to trigger immune responses. Research has shown that intradermal administration and reduced cell numbers improve migration rates.
