Indium-111-labeled monoclonal antibody Cx-99 is a radioimmunoconjugate consisting of the monoclonal antibody Cx-99, which targets cytokeratin 19, labeled with the gamma-emitting radioisotope indium-111. It is used primarily as a radioimmunodetection (RAID) agent for localization of cervical cancer. The monoclonal antibody component binds to cytokeratin 19 expressed in tumor cells, and the attached indium-111 allows for gamma detection via a gamma counter or hand-held gamma detector, thereby localizing tumor tissue in vivo. This construct forms part of the class of radiolabeled antibodies explored for cancer imaging and detection, particularly in cervical carcinoma xenograft models. Its mechanism involves antigen-specific binding and radioisotope-facilitated localization, but not direct cytotoxicity. The main route studied has been intravenous administration in animal models and early trials.
