Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Indium In-111 is a radioactive isotope of Indium, primarily utilized as a radiotracer in diagnostic medical imaging, specifically scintigraphy. It emits gamma radiation, which allows for the visualization and localization of specific tissues, organs, or tumors when the isotope is chemically conjugated to a targeting molecule. Examples include its use with pentetreotide to target somatostatin receptors for neuroendocrine tumor imaging, or with ibritumomab tiuxetan to target CD20-expressing cells in lymphoma. Its primary role is to provide a detectable signal for diagnostic purposes.
