Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Indium In-111 dotatate (also known as 111In-DOTATATE) is an investigational radiopharmaceutical consisting of the somatostatin analog dotatate (DOTA-Tyr3-octreotate) labeled with the gamma-emitting radionuclide indium-111 (In-111). It binds with high affinity to somatostatin receptor type 2 (SSTR2), which is overexpressed on the surface of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Primarily used as a diagnostic imaging agent for single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and for pre-therapeutic dosimetry/pharmacokinetic modeling in peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), it helps predict tumor uptake and kidney radiation-absorbed doses prior to treatment with therapeutic beta- or alpha-emitting radiopharmaceuticals (such as lutetium Lu-177 dotatate or lead-212 dotamtate).
