indoramin

Indoramin is a piperidine antiadrenergic agent classified as a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. It is primarily used for the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and hypertension. By blocking alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, indoramin relaxes smooth muscle in the bladder neck, prostate gland, and blood vessel walls. This action improves urinary flow in BPH and lowers blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Unlike some other alpha-blockers, indoramin does not cause reflex tachycardia due to its direct myocardial depressant effect[1][2][3][5][6]. The drug has been marketed under the trade names Baratol and Doralese but has been discontinued or withdrawn in several markets[2][4].
