Overview

Indoxacarb is a synthetic oxadiazine insecticide developed by DuPont to control a variety of insect pests, particularly lepidopteran larvae. It is a non-systemic insecticide with both contact and ingestion activity. After absorption or ingestion, indoxacarb blocks voltage-gated sodium channels in insect neurons, preventing sodium ion influx, which disrupts nerve function, leading to paralysis and death. The insecticidal effect is mainly due to the S-enantiomer of indoxacarb. It is considered a "reduced risk" pesticide by the U.S. EPA, with moderate to low mammalian toxicity and no evidence of carcinogenic, mutagenic, or developmental effects when used as directed[1][3][7].
