infliximab + vitamin D

Infliximab + vitamin D is a combination therapy that has shown synergistic effects in treating inflammatory bowel diseases, particularly Crohn's disease. Infliximab is a TNF-α inhibitor that reduces inflammation, while vitamin D acts as an immunomodulator. Studies have shown that patients with low vitamin D levels who initiate infliximab treatment are more likely to achieve clinical remission. The combination therapy works by regulating regulatory T cell (Treg) differentiation and modulating inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and TNF-α. High-dose vitamin D treatment combined with infliximab has been shown to reduce the need for infliximab dose escalation and decrease inflammatory markers in Crohn's disease patients.
