Infliximab + prednisone is a combination of two immunosuppressive drugs used primarily in the management of moderate to severe autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. Infliximab is a chimeric monoclonal IgG1 antibody that targets tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in chronic inflammatory diseases. By binding to both soluble and membrane-bound TNF-alpha, it disrupts its interaction with receptors, leading to reduced inflammation and downregulation of other pro-inflammatory mediators[5][6][8]. Prednisone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid that suppresses inflammation by modulating gene expression through the glucocorticoid receptor, resulting in decreased production of inflammatory cytokines and immune cell activity.
