Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Infliximab-axxq is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody to infliximab, marketed under the brand name Avsola, developed by Amgen. It is an anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha (anti-TNF) biologic used to manage and treat autoimmune and inflammatory disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and plaque psoriasis. Infliximab-axxq binds to both the soluble and transmembrane forms of TNF-α, neutralizing its activity and blocking downstream inflammatory signaling. It is approved for all indications of the reference product, Remicade, and is given by intravenous infusion[1][3][6][8].
