Overview

Infliximab-epirus is a biosimilar of infliximab, a chimeric (human-murine) monoclonal IgG1 antibody that binds with high affinity to tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), a key pro-inflammatory cytokine. By neutralizing both the soluble and transmembrane forms of TNF-α, infliximab-epirus inhibits the inflammatory cascade involved in a variety of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. Infliximab-epirus was developed by Epirus Biopharmaceuticals as BOW015 and received regulatory approval in India as a "similar biologic" to Remicade (infliximab)[6][1].
