Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Influenza A (H5N1) vaccine, inactivated, split virion, is a pharmaceutical drug designed for active immunization against the influenza A virus H5N1 subtype. This vaccine is produced by inactivating the virus and then splitting it into components, primarily to present the viral hemagglutinin antigen to the immune system. This process stimulates the body to produce antibodies that can block the H5N1 virus from attaching to and infecting human respiratory epithelial cells, thereby preventing disease. Sanofi Pasteur is a key developer and manufacturer of this type of vaccine.
