Overview

Influenza A (H5N1) Virus Monovalent Vaccine, Adjuvanted is a non-infectious, inactivated split-virion monovalent vaccine formulated with the AS03 adjuvant. It is designed to protect against infection caused by the H5N1 subtype of the influenza A virus. The antigen component is produced from H5N1 virus propagated in embryonated hen’s eggs and then inactivated using ultraviolet light. The AS03 adjuvant enhances immune response to the antigen. This vaccine stimulates production of antibodies against H5N1 and is intended for use as part of pandemic preparedness or outbreak response[6][8]. It has been stockpiled by governments for rapid deployment during outbreaks and was developed primarily for protection against avian-origin pandemic strains.
