Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The influenza A (H7N9) virus vaccine developed by Hualan Biological Bacterin Co. Ltd. is an inactivated vaccine designed to provide protection against the H7N9 avian influenza virus. Developed as part of a key project for China's pandemic preparedness, the vaccine utilizes inactivated H7N9 influenza virus antigens in both split-virion and whole-virion formulations. These formulations have been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials to assess safety and immunogenicity in healthy subjects aged 3 years and older, using varying dosages (7.5μg, 15μg, and 30μg). The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies, primarily targeting the viral hemagglutinin, to prevent infection and severe disease from the H7N9 strain.
