Overview

Influenza A monoclonal antibody + influenza B monoclonal antibody refers to a combination therapeutic approach that utilizes two distinct human monoclonal antibodies to provide broad-spectrum prophylaxis and treatment against influenza viruses. A prominent example is the Pan-Influenza program developed by IDBiologics, which combines an influenza A-specific neutralizing monoclonal antibody (IVA-mAb) with an influenza B-specific neutralizing monoclonal antibody (IVB-mAb). This combination is intended for the seasonal prophylaxis and treatment of influenza, covering seasonal strains as well as pandemic influenza A strains such as H1N1, H3N2, H5N1, and H7N9, and both Victoria and Yamagata lineages of influenza B. The therapy, which originated from research at Vanderbilt University, is currently in preclinical development and aims to offer a potent alternative for individuals at risk of severe influenza infection by neutralizing the viruses and preventing viral entry into host cells.
