Overview

Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 hemagglutinin, recombinant is a laboratory-produced form of the viral surface glycoprotein hemagglutinin (HA) from the H1N1 strain of Influenza A. Hemagglutinin is essential for viral entry into host cells by binding to sialic acid-containing receptors on the cell surface and mediating membrane fusion during endocytosis. Recombinant forms are typically produced in mammalian or insect cell systems and are used as antigens in research, diagnostics, and vaccine development. The mechanism of action involves mimicking natural HA to elicit an immune response or serve as a target for neutralizing antibodies[2][4][5]. It plays a major role in determining host range restriction and virulence[2]. Recombinant HA proteins have been used in clinical trials for influenza immunization[3].
