Influenza B virus Victoria lineage haemagglutinin is a recombinant or purified surface glycoprotein derived from the Victoria lineage of influenza B viruses. It is a key antigenic component used in seasonal quadrivalent and trivalent influenza vaccines to induce immunity against circulating strains of the Victoria lineage. The protein mediates viral entry by binding to sialic acid receptors on host cells and facilitating membrane fusion. Vaccines containing this antigen stimulate humoral immune responses, leading to the production of neutralizing antibodies that protect against infection with matching or closely related strains. The World Health Organization recommends inclusion of both major lineages—Victoria and Yamagata—in quadrivalent vaccines due to their distinct antigenicity and shifting prevalence[3][4][7][8].
