Overview
Influenza messenger RNA formulation B is an investigational, multivalent mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by GSK for the prevention of seasonal influenza. Originally co-developed with CureVac using their second-generation mRNA technology platform, the vaccine consists of modified mRNA constructs encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). These constructs encode hemagglutinin (HA) antigens corresponding to WHO-recommended influenza A and B strains. In Phase 2 clinical trials (such as NCT05823974), this formulation was evaluated for safety and immunogenicity in both younger and older adults, demonstrating positive immune responses that support its progression into Phase 3 development. GSK assumed full control of the program following a licensing agreement in July 2024.
