Overview

Influenza seasonal trivalent is an oral tablet vaccine candidate currently in preclinical development by Vaxart (Agora Merger Sub) for the prevention of seasonal influenza. The vaccine is based on Vaxart's proprietary non-replicating Adenovirus Type 5 (Ad5) viral vector platform and incorporates a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) adjuvant, which acts as a Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) agonist to enhance mucosal and systemic immunity. As a trivalent formulation, it is designed to target three influenza strains in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations: two Influenza A lineages (H1N1 and H3N2) and one Influenza B lineage (Victoria). The delivery system is unique in that it is formulated as an oral tablet, intended to be administered as one tablet per strain, providing a room-temperature stable alternative to traditional injectable vaccines.
