Overview
The influenza universal vaccine is a viral vector-based prophylactic candidate being developed by VaxThera in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin. Unlike traditional seasonal flu vaccines that target the highly variable head of the hemagglutinin protein, this universal vaccine is designed to target conserved regions of the influenza virus. This strategy aims to provide broad and durable protection against a wide range of influenza A and B strains, including those with pandemic potential, potentially eliminating the requirement for annual vaccinations. The program is currently in the design and early development stage, leveraging viral vector technology to elicit robust immune responses.
