Overview

Vaxigrip Quadrivalent (also known as VaxigripTetra) is a quadrivalent split-virion inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4) developed by Sanofi Pasteur. It is designed to provide broad protection against seasonal influenza by including hemagglutinin (HA) antigens from four different influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). The vaccine is produced by propagating the viruses in embryonated chicken eggs, followed by formaldehyde inactivation, purification via zonal centrifugation, and splitting into subvirion forms. It stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against the specific HA antigens. It is indicated for the prevention of influenza in adults and children, typically administered as a single intramuscular injection.
