Overview

Viraflu is a trivalent, inactivated, surface subunit influenza vaccine developed and manufactured by SINERGIUM Biotech in Argentina. As a third-generation subunit vaccine, it contains purified surface antigens—specifically hemagglutinin and neuraminidase—from three seasonal influenza virus strains (typically two Influenza A subtypes and one Influenza B lineage) as recommended annually by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Southern Hemisphere. The vaccine is produced through a technology transfer agreement, ensuring local production for national immunization programs. It is indicated for the prevention of seasonal influenza in both adult and pediatric populations and works by inducing the production of neutralizing antibodies against the viral surface proteins, thereby providing active immunity.
