The influenza virus subunit vaccine is a purified protein subunit vaccine developed by Dalian Yalifeng Biopharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Fosun Pharma) for the prevention of seasonal influenza. Unlike split-virion vaccines, which contain all components of the disrupted virus, this subunit formulation consists only of the essential surface antigens—hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). These antigens are isolated and purified from inactivated influenza viruses, typically grown in embryonated chicken eggs. By removing internal viral proteins and genetic material, the subunit vaccine aims to provide a favorable safety profile with lower reactogenicity while maintaining the ability to induce protective neutralizing antibodies. The vaccine is available in trivalent and quadrivalent forms and is administered via intramuscular injection to individuals across various age groups, including children and the elderly.
