Quadrivalent split influenza virus vaccine is an inactivated vaccine prepared from influenza viruses propagated in embryonated hens' eggs. It contains four influenza virus strains: two influenza A subtypes (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B lineages (Victoria and Yamagata). The viruses are inactivated with ultraviolet light treatment followed by formaldehyde treatment, purified by centrifugation, and disrupted with sodium deoxycholate. It is administered via intramuscular injection for the prevention of seasonal influenza.
