Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A bivalent live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) designed to protect against swine influenza A virus (swIAV). The vaccine specifically targets the H1N2 and H3N2 subtypes using elastase-dependent, non-virulent strains (A/Swine/Alberta/SD0191/2016 and A/Swine/Saskatchewan/SD0069/2015). By utilizing elastase-dependent attenuation, the vaccine is restricted to replication only in the presence of specific exogenous enzymes, enhancing safety. It works by inducing hemagglutination inhibition (HI) antibodies and IFN-γ secreting cells, effectively reducing viral replication and lung pathology in swine.
