Overview
Infomet is a sustained-release oral formulation of metformin, a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent developed and marketed by SNIG Pharma. It is primarily indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Metformin works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. As a sustained-release (SR) tablet, Infomet allows for a more gradual release of the active ingredient, which can improve gastrointestinal tolerability and patient compliance compared to immediate-release formulations. It is part of SNIG Pharma's cardio-diabetic therapeutic portfolio.
