Overview

ING-1 is a human-engineered monoclonal antibody developed to target the epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), also known as CD326. EpCAM is highly expressed on many adenocarcinoma tumor cells. The drug was designed as an anti-tumor agent and has been investigated for use in various cancers, particularly adenocarcinomas such as breast, colorectal, lung, ovary, and prostate cancer. Its mechanism of action involves binding to EpCAM on tumor cells; in some investigational approaches (such as with Triton's Targeted Nano-Therapeutics System), it may be used to deliver tiny magnetic spheres that can be heated by an external magnetic field to ablate tumors selectively[1][2][3]. Clinical development reached Phase 1 trials for advanced adenocarcinomas.
