Overview

Ingaron is a recombinant human interferon gamma–based immunomodulatory and antiviral drug developed in Russia, marketed as lyophilized powder for solution for intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intranasal administration. It belongs to the type II interferon family and exerts antiviral and immunoregulatory effects by binding the interferon gamma receptor, activating JAK–STAT signaling, upregulating interferon-stimulated genes, and modulating cellular and humoral immune responses, including macrophage activation and enhancement of Th1 immunity.[1][5][9][10][17] In clinical and real-world use it has been investigated or used in combination therapy for influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (including H5N1/H1N1 and SARS/ARVI), COVID‑19, drug‑resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, HIV infection and related immune deficiency states, chronic viral infections (such as hepatitis and human papillomavirus), chlamydia, genital herpes, and other infectious or immunodeficient conditions.[1][3][5][9][13][16][17] The product is developed and manufactured by SPP Pharmaclon and is positioned both for treatment and prophylaxis of respiratory viral infections, including an intranasal formulation indicated for influenza prevention and early treatment.[2][5][9][11][15][17]
