Drug intelligence / Profile preview
INHAL-102 is an investigational inhaled formulation of the folate antimetabolite **pemetrexed**, currently in the discovery stage of development by Inhalis Therapeutics SA. It is being developed for the localized treatment of neoplasms, specifically lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), as well as other respiratory diseases. By utilizing a proprietary inhalation delivery platform, INHAL-102 is designed to deliver high concentrations of the cytotoxic agent directly to the tumor site in the lungs. This approach aims to enhance therapeutic efficacy while minimizing systemic exposure and the associated toxicities typically observed with intravenous administration. Pemetrexed, the active ingredient, exerts its effect by inhibiting multiple folate-dependent enzymes essential for DNA and RNA synthesis, including thymidylate synthase (TS), dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), and glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase (GARFT).
