Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of inhaled corticosteroids and salbutamol (albuterol) brings together two distinct mechanisms for treating respiratory conditions like asthma. This combination provides both immediate symptom relief and long-term inflammation control. Salbutamol is a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) that provides quick relief by relaxing airway muscles during symptom flare-ups. Inhaled corticosteroids work to control symptoms by reducing and preventing swelling and inflammation in airway tissue. When combined, these medications can effectively reduce asthma symptoms and prevent asthma attacks. The combination may be delivered through a single inhaler device (as with AIRSUPRA) or through separate inhalers.
