Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Inhaled insulin aerosol (Inh-Ins) is an inhalable formulation of porcine insulin developed by Chuangxinhui Biotech Venture Capital for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Administered via inhalation using a specialized delivery device with aerosol capsules, it is designed to provide rapid-acting, pre-meal insulin coverage to control postprandial blood glucose levels. By binding to and activating the insulin receptor, it facilitates cellular glucose uptake and regulates glucose metabolism. In a completed multicenter, randomized, open-label Phase 3 clinical trial in China, the efficacy and safety of pre-meal inhaled insulin aerosol (combined with bedtime basal insulin glargine) were evaluated over a 12-week period, demonstrating glycemic control comparable to subcutaneous regular human insulin in adults with type 2 diabetes.
