Overview
Inhibtol (dexlansoprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) developed and marketed by Kirovest for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including the healing and maintenance of all grades of erosive esophagitis. As the R-enantiomer of lansoprazole, dexlansoprazole suppresses gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the Gastric H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) enzyme system in the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa. Inhibtol is administered orally and is available in 30mg and 60mg dual delayed-release formulations, which utilize a dual-release technology to provide two separate releases of the medication at different pH levels, ensuring extended acid suppression compared to conventional PPIs.
