Drug intelligence / Profile preview
INHL003 is an inhaled formulation of treprostinil, a synthetic analogue of prostacyclin (PGI2), developed by Lee's Pharmaceutical through its subsidiary Zhaoke Pharmaceutical (ZKGZ Biotech). Treprostinil acts as a potent vasodilator of both pulmonary and systemic arterial vascular beds and also inhibits platelet aggregation. Its primary mechanism of action involves binding to and activating the prostacyclin receptor (IP receptor), which triggers an increase in intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), leading to the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle cells. The inhalation route allows for targeted delivery to the pulmonary vasculature, which helps to reduce pulmonary arterial pressure and improve exercise capacity in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) while potentially minimizing systemic side effects compared to parenteral administration.
