Overview

INI101 is a botulinum toxin type A (BoNT/A) candidate developed by Inibio, a South Korean biopharmaceutical company. It is primarily indicated for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines) in adult patients. The drug's mechanism of action involves the selective cleavage of the synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25), a critical component of the SNARE protein complex required for neurotransmitter exocytosis. By disrupting this complex, INI101 prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from presynaptic nerve terminals at the neuromuscular junction. This inhibition leads to localized muscle chemo-denervation and subsequent relaxation, which smooths the overlying skin and reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. INI101 is currently undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in South Korea to establish its safety and efficacy profile as a high-purity alternative to established botulinum toxin products.
