Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) is a second-generation autologous blood concentrate developed to overcome the limitations of solid PRF. It is obtained by centrifuging a patient's whole blood at lower speeds and for shorter durations than traditional PRF, resulting in a liquid formulation that remains injectable for a limited time before forming a fibrin clot. i-PRF contains a high concentration of platelets, leukocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells, which gradually release growth factors such as TGF-β, PDGF, and VEGF. It is primarily used in regenerative dentistry (e.g., periodontitis, wound healing, and bone grafting) and orthopedics to promote tissue healing and reduce inflammation.
