Overview

INM-901 is a proprietary small molecule drug candidate being developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease by InMed Pharmaceuticals. It functions as a preferential signaling agonist for cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2) and impacts the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathway. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that INM-901 reduces neuroinflammation, including significantly reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines associated with Alzheimer's disease such as TNF-α, IL-1ß, and INF-γ. The compound has also shown an ability to promote neurite outgrowth, signifying potential to improve neuronal function. Additionally, INM-901 has demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in neurofilament light chain (NfL), a biomarker of neurodegeneration. The drug is orally available, with studies indicating it can safely and effectively cross the blood-brain barrier, which is essential for treating Alzheimer's disease.
