Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Innovac L-PRRS is a modified live virus (MLV) vaccine developed by Avi-Mex for the prevention of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) in swine. The vaccine is based on the G16X strain, a naturally highly attenuated PRRSV-2 isolate derived from the research of Dr. Federico Zuckermann. Unlike many traditional MLV vaccines that require extensive laboratory attenuation, Innovac L-PRRS utilizes a naturally non-virulent strain to induce protective immunity. It is typically administered intranasally and is designed to target the PRRS virus (PRRSV) to reduce the clinical impact of the disease in pig populations. The technology was commercialized through a collaboration involving Avi-Mex and Aptimmune Biologics.
